What is PMI and PMI Honolulu Chapter?

PMI is an international non-profit professional organization that supports project management. PMI Honolulu Chapter is the local chapter of Hawaii, which encourages professional networking and career advancement for Project Managers, Business Analysts or anyone who is interested in the project management profession.

What is PDD?

PDD stands for Professional Development Day. It is an annual conference for professionals in Hawaii with 350 plus attendees.

Is PMI and/or PMI Honolulu Chapter membership required to be a PDD or annual sponsor?

No, membership is not required to become a sponsor.

What kind of sponsorships do you offer?

We accept “cash” or “in kind” or a combination of both “cash and in kind” for sponsorship. For the PDD, we are flexible with additional a la carte options where the contribution amount is negotiable. Contact our Marketing Director marketing@pmihnl.org to discuss other options including contribution levels or in-kind sponsorship uniquely tailored to your company.

How are sponsorship levels determined in each scenario?

Sponsoring with cash is straightforward in determining various levels of sponsorships – for each level fee, see below. Sponsoring “in kind” requires determining the “in kind” cash value for the level of sponsorship. A mix of cash and “in kind” would require determining the total amount by adding the cash to the “in kind” cash value, then translate into the sponsorship level.

What kind of payments do you accept for sponsorships?

We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, Diner's Club and AMEX credit cards. We also accept VISA and MasterCard debit cards and checks. Check payments need to be mailed to:
PMI Honolulu, Hawaii Chapter Attn: 2017 PDD
P.O. Box 1161
Honolulu, Hawaii 96807

If I sponsor “in kind” at a value of $2,500, do I get the full five complimentary tickets to PDD?

In the case of an “in kind only” sponsorship, a Platinum Sponsor would get 3 complimentary tickets, a Gold Sponsor would get 2 complimentary tickets and a Silver Sponsor would get 1 complimentary ticket.

Are complimentary tickets same as full access passes?

Yes, the complimentary passes are equivalent to the full access passes of a full attendee’s registration.

If my company sponsors and also has a speaker, will the speaker take one of the complimentary free tickets or will he or she get their own?

The speaker receives his/her own complimentary ticket. The company receives the number of complimentary tickets at whatever level it sponsors. For example, at Silver Level ($500) one complimentary ticket is included.

If my sponsorship allows more than one complimentary free ticket (Platinum gets 5 and Gold gets 3), how do I register my company’s attendees so there is no charge?

For sponsorship registration each sponsor will receive a special code that would allow them to register for PDD. For example, a Platinum Sponsor would receive a code to register for 5 people. Please email specialprojects@pmihnl.org for the code.

What is the passport program and how does it work?

The passport program provides additional benefits to sponsors. It is intended to increase their visibility/awareness during the event as well as their opportunities to network with the attendees. It does this by providing a “game card” to the attendees who will obtain a stamp upon visiting each sponsor table or display. PMI Honolulu incentivizes completion of the card by allowing the attendees to get additional raffle tickets for the Pau Hana event.

If my company sponsors (any level) do we physically have to staff the table/booth?

No, you are entitled to the number of tables pertaining to your level of sponsorship. You are free to choose to have a representative(s) present or not. You can choose to have a display only, banner, screen, etc.... only (note that your display and/or content will have to be approved by PMI Honolulu Chapter). You will be responsible to set up and take down your display, banner, etc. at the end of the conference.

What are the logistics of multiple team members manning the booth?

We can give you some blank badges for your folks that are staffing your table throughout the day, if you have multiple people attending in shifts. Also, feel free to invite them to enjoy the breakfast, lunch and Pau Hana event if they are available.

How do you determine the location for my booth/table?

Generally, we determine the location on a first come first serve basis. Preference is given to the level of sponsorship: 1. Platinum, 2. Gold, 3. Silver and 4. Other sponsors.

Can I request a specific area for my booth/table?

Yes, we accept requests and will do our best to plan accordingly, but we do not guarantee specific areas (thank you for your understanding).

What kind of marketing materials can I bring to the conference?

You are free to bring any marketing materials that will fit in your booth/6’ table area. Please let us know if you have power and/or internet requirements.

Can I set up our exhibit table the night before?

PMI Honolulu Chapter will have some volunteers setting up the day before the PDD from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. You are welcome to set up your exhibit table at that time. There is limited space if you need to secure items overnight.

When can I breakdown our exhibit table?

You can start breaking down during the closing session. We encourage that you join the Pau Hana which is a great opportunity to network.

What period of time does an annual sponsorship cover?

It covers 12 months from receipt of payment, but does not include a second Professional Development Day event if overlap occurs.

What do I do if I have a question that is not answered by this FAQ?

Please email SpecialProjects@pmihnl.org with details on your question. We will make every effort to address your concern as soon as we can.
