Happy New Year from PMI Honolulu, Hawaii Chapter! Here's what's in store for the new year.

We're kicking off the new year with new events and revamped current events to bring you even more member value and engagement.

NEW MONTHLY Event:  FREE VIRTUAL ROUNDTABLE vIA Webinar "PM Talk with Kane Ng-Osorio"

January 10th kicked off our first of a series of monthly webinars.  This is a free event with PDU that will be reported for chapter members who register and attend.  The webinar is conducted by Kane Ng-Osorio on various topics.  First topic in January was "Virtual Roundtable PM Talk: Cloud based project and portfolio management tools".  This inaugural session was extermely well attended...  there were 32 attendees who dialed in and watched the screen sharing.  We're looking forward to future sessions.

Kane is the Past President for the chapter, having served as President in 2018 and Vice President in 2017.  He also served as Special Projects Director in prior years.

Jeremy Knudson, Product Line Specialist at ServiceNow will be speaking on "Transforming the PMO office with ServiceNow" at a FREE sponsored Pau Hana (drinks and light pupus included) for attendees.  Deadline to register is tomorrow Jan 11.  Event will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Amuse Wine Bar.

Continuing our successful monthly membership meeting and luncheon!  We're kicking off 2019 with Cori Chang, OCM Lead, State of Hawaii speaking on "Embracing the Role of Change Leader".  This is a Strategic & Business Management PDU for those who register and attend.  Chapter members enjoy added benefit of having their PDU reported for them by the Programs Team.

This event is held at The Plaza Club, 20th Floor.

Breakfast Roundtable has moved to Ala Moana - Jan 23, 2019

This month our Breakfast Roundtable will be on Jan 23, but subsequent months it will be back on the usual schedule on the 2nd Wednesday.

Location is hosted by The Microsoft Store at Ala Moana.  This is part 1 of a four part series on Microsoft Project. The series is for people new to MS Project and new to using any PM software. The series will include: 1) Developing and entering a WBS, 2) Gantt and Network Diagram, 3) Budget by Output and Budget by Resource, and 4) Tracking. The project information will be entered and calculated in MS Project and then transferred to MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint for distribution. It is a minimalist approach, but quick and effective.  

Open to the public.  This is a FREE event.  This will provide attendees a Technical PDU credit (members will need to self report).  Light refreshment will be provided.  Limited seating.  If you have MS Project, we invite you to bring your laptops to take advantage of a hands-on opportunity to learn along with the session.



The PMP Exam Prep course begins with the Spring Session and is open now for registration. Runs [March 4, 2019] to [April 11, 2019] Thirteen Course Meetings, 3 hour sessions, Mondays from 6pm - 9pm and Thursdays from 6pm - 9pm.  Venue will be at the HMSA building, 818 Keeaumomu Street, Honolulu.  Includes instruction materials and a copy of the PMBOK 6.0.
